LDR is a 16-bed unit with a 6-bed OBED, 4 antenatal testing rooms and 2 c/section suites.  The OBED is staffed by a nurse and an OB Hospitalist 24/7. LDR participates in AIM initiatives, PPH protocols with QBL, Severe HTN protocols, as well as multiple other process improvement initiatives. We have a charge nurse each shift to coordinate care. Daily safety huddles and bedside shift report are an important part of our unit culture. Our Med/Surg Observsation Unit is a fast paced 16 bed telemetry/medical-surgical unit.  Common problems seen in our unit include chest pain, syncope, congestive heart failure, pneumonia, and diabetes.  Our nurse patient ratio ranges from 4-6 patients depending on acuity.  Our care team includes a charge nurse and unit assistants with support from respiratory, lab, and case management departments.  We orient new nurses to our unit by providing a 6-8 week orientation program with a dedicated preceptor team, complemented by classroom courses, and a nurse residency program for new graduates. This position is with our Rheumatology Associates, a busy and fun work environment with some of the best Rheumatologists in the Metro. The clerk is a vital part of the clinic; obtains all patient and insurance information and responsible for check in/out patients.   Accurately and timely registers patient upon check-in.  Enters all required patient personal, insurance and additional information; scans front and back of insurance card and front of photo ID; collects and scans all required documents with signature (to include PHI and clinic registration form).  Indicates arrival status in EMR. Upon check-in of a return patient, verifies existing data at each visit and updates information as necessary.   Notifies personnel of patient arrivals and communicates anticipated wait times or delays.  Upon check-out, schedules future appointments accurately in accordance with the clinic's specific policy.  Highly detail-oriented with a low rate of error. Meets requirements for criteria by providing a visit summary upon check out and obtaining complete demographic information to include email for access to the patient portal, gender, race, language, and ethnicity.
